Hrífunes Country Hotel

Hrífunes country hotel accommodation service in Skaftártunga that can accommodate up to 30 people in made-up beds. The house is located between Vík í Mýrdal and Kirkjubæjarklaustur. From Hrífunes it is a short distance to the highlands of Iceland and to the mountain backroads south and north. The owners are Hadda Björk Gísladóttir and Haukur Snorrason. They also run the travel service company Look North ehf, which specialises in photography tours.

In 2012, rooms were furnished in a tool storage room in addition to an extension with accommodation, storage and garage. In 2017, a two-storey extension with six accommodations plus a suite was built. The main idea is to create a country hotel with a village brag that is a kind of oasis in the desert.
