ASK architects were responsible for the establishment of the SPITAL group following the group's winning proposal in a competition held in 2010 and the subsequent ongoing work on the New Landspítali at Hringbraut. The owners of SPITAL ehf are: ASK architects ehf, bj.snæ architects, EFLA hf erkfræðistofa, Kanon architects ehf, Lagnatækni ehf and Teiknistofan Tröð ehf 1.
